The In2C proposal of TCG - Central and Western Thessaly, "Integration of third-country nationals in the construction sector" was signed by the European Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF), amounting to EUR 792,966.30.
For many third-country nationals, construction is the entry into the labor market. Due to differences in culture, language barriers and knowledge of national policies, these workers are more likely to be exposed and excluded from work-related risk factors.
In2C aims to facilitate and promote the timely and effective integration of third-country nationals into the construction market by means of integrated training aimed at enhancing the language skills of their host countries and employer networking, which will be actively involved in In2C activities.
The program aims to improve language skills in technical terminology and to support knowledge at national and international level of European policies (eg tasks and obligations in the workplace, health and safety issues). Trained third-country nationals will have the opportunity to evaluate their skills through an online assessment tool and receive a certificate which could be imported or downloaded on relevant EU platforms.
The project's lead partner is the Technical Chamber of Greece - Central and Western Thessaly, while the other partners are: KEK Dimitra, Municipality of Larissa, Fundacion Laboral de la construccion (Spain), Documenta (Spain), Cyprus Management Association (CSI) Center (Cyprus), Folkuniversities (Sweden), Sverige Stroj AB (Sweden).
On the occasion of the signing of the program agreement, the President, Nikos Papageorgiou, stated:
"I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to our success. For the first time, the Technical Chamber submitted a proposal to participate in a European Program as a Partner Coordinator and was approved. This would not have been possible without the contribution of our partners to the In2C program.
The objective of the European Union Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund is to support Member States' efforts to adopt and develop (a) a Common European Asylum System (CEAS), (b) a common European integration policy for legal immigrants and beneficiaries of international protection; and (c) an effective return policy, respecting the principles of dignity and the protection of human rights.
The TCG - Central and Western Thessaly contributes to the common European policy of integrating legal immigrants and beneficiaries of international protection into the labor market of the construction sector through the In2C project. Our proposal, through the tools and methods that will be implemented, responds to the migration problem, turning it into an advantage for the European Union. "
